Now is the time …

I saw a funny meme the other day that read, “My New Year starts in February because I was still dealing with some 2018 stuff …”

It made me laugh because I thought “yeah that sounds about right” and then I thought how true it must be for so many of us. I mean how many of us draw a line under the old year and expect our whole lives to change on the strike of midnight in a flurry of hasty New Year resolutions?

Well, here we all are – well and truly into February. We’ve had our ‘January’ trial run of the things we had hoped to put in place for 2019 and hopefully we have moved beyond the old ‘stuff’ now. The thing is, if we are really serious about the changes we want to bring into our lives – now is the time to get serious.

It’s at this point I wish to introduce my favourite F word for February – Focus – and boy have I been using that F word to great effect these last few weeks. For some of us, who have genuinely been trying to get it together in January, perhaps it’s more accurate to say re-Focus but you catch my drift!

Those of you who follow me on Facebook or subscribe to my newsletter will already know I have exciting developments planned for 2019. Exciting though they are, these plans have still required my focus and commitment  (and sometime re-focus) to get things done. Sometimes it can be hard just to give things that extra push to see them over the line but you just have to revisit your reasons for doing something and motivate yourself again.

Talking of ‘revisiting’, I have a website refresh in the pipeline. It was time to update some of the content to make it more relevant to where I’m at now and to bring it into line with my vision for the future. The wheels are in motion and I’m really excited about the new look so look out for updates and be sure to check in with my website for the latest blogs, events and updates.

I’ve also spent time bringing my focus back to the services I offer and how I can best serve Spirit and those of you who not only wish to connect with loved ones, but perhaps wish to focus on your own growth. After all these years I have learned so much and I feel it’s time to share some of these Pearls of Wisdom. I want to focus on you – and help empower each of you for the journey ahead. Sound interesting? Watch this space.

Finally another exciting project will be coming to fruition this year with the launch of my book. Some of you will know this was an area of focus for me last year so I’m very excited to see the fruits of that labour very soon. Details will be released in the coming weeks.

If you are reading this and you’re needing a little motivation to get serious about your  own plans for 2019, I’ll leave you with the words of George Lucas. “Always remember your focus determines your reality.”

Or if you prefer a little  Goethe, “Whatever you can do, or dream you can being it. Boldness has serious power and magic in it.”

It’s amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it.

Do you need that little extra help to get the focus you need? Then try this simple yet effective process:

1) Take a step a back from the desk or workstation

2) Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Focus on your shoulders and back and feel them relax a little. “let go”.

3) When you focus on your breathing, breathe in for six, hold for two, breathe the out for six, relax for two and repeat. Do this for as long as you feel comfortable doing it.

4) When you are finished with the breathing exercise, get out the pen and paper and write down the tasks you need to do today.

This will help you get the focus you need and hopefully alleviate the feeling of overwhelm.
